Acton Relocation Management were appointed by our chosen moves contractor to perform the role of Move Project Management on their behalf.
We were highly impressed and delighted by the professionalism, knowledge and experience that their director – Glyn Clewley – instantly brought to the project. His communication, guidance and direction was clear and concise, and he produced and delivered a move strategy that not only enabled the hospital to maintain service delivery as long as possible, but also regain its operational status quickly after completion of the main moves.
The manner in which he responded to and dealt with staff at all levels for both the NHS and University of Birmingham was exceptional and he exuded calmness and a ‘can do attitude’. He delivered this in a fun and friendly way which removed much of the stress from the difficult move for many people.
His attention to detail ensured that all disciplines – from clinical areas and technically challenging laboratories, through to facilities and catering – achieved their departmental needs effectively.
As with all projects, the organisational needs and financial challenges were a constraining issue, and changing requirements necessitated a flexible approach by the project at all times. Glyn was decisive in his reactions to solve problems and accommodate change, manage our main contractors and liaise with third parties whilst remaining cost conscious throughout, thus providing a value for money service that did not compromise on quality of delivery.
Regular progress reporting and updates on an individual and/or group presentation using clear, concise presentation materials at project executive level kept all senior management up to date with the relocation plan.
Glyn proved that his considered and pragmatic approach to devising a relocation plan, based on knowledge and experience, interspersed with respect for and input from stakeholders, is the recipe for a highly successful business move.
